A Big Ugly Weekend!
 

Big Ugly #1 36" long
After a very, very long wait without any action and with good fresh crab in the water I finally catch the first Big Ugly of the trip.

It took about an hour and a half before Anthony catches this B.U.

We sat there waiting for another hour before one of our rods goes off and the race was on. I beat the boy to the rod and caught myself another fish.

Even though it was another day I decided to let Anthony catch the next fish. Soon after getting there Anthony snags the first B.U. of the day.

After a long wait we decided to change the baits on all of our rods. Thank God we did because we had not a single bait on. As I am still casting out the rods the first rod I threw out bends over like it was going to break and look what I caught.

Did I mention we were using a Catchalot® Leader which is now available with a Mustad 14/0 Circle hook for the easy release of these fish!

I then preceded to throw out the rest of the rods. While I was trying to set the weight on my favorite rod, I felt something odd. I set the hook and look what kept the weight from sticking. Two B.U. in less than 10 minutes. Not bad! We should have left to get home early because we did not have a bite after that.

Now for the REPORT!

The weather was cool to cold in the morning to down right hot during the day. Bait was pretty hard to catch or buy anywhere. Luckily I found a Fiesta near work that carries live crabs. I will be going there more often from now on. The water was not to clean but the Big Ugly's don't mind. It was great to be out there! We landed 6 over size black drum that were 35" and 38" long. We also lost several other fish that were just too sneaky for us. Saturday was spent fishing in the drum hole and we went to Bryan's Beach after a friend with a dog named Miracle gave us the scoop about a great day of catching on the beach.
