Offshore in a KAYAK
High Island, Texas

Yak Attack!

Since we had such success the last time we took our kayaks offshore we decided to give it a try one more time. This time the weather was not as cooperative. It was rough out there but still managed to catch fish.

Here I am holding the first bull red of the day. After seeing TJ wading head deep through the first gut I decided just to cast off the beach. TJ was the first to strike with a nice bull red that he let someone (can't remember his name) bring in for him so I decided to wade out to the first sand bar and throw out. Paid off beautifully with this nice fish.
I truly hate getting that wet early in the morning.

Anthony and I making our way back to shore for a break.

This is the bunch that weathered the storm to catch fish off their yaks. I am pretty sure everyone landed something. I saw some bull reds and a shark caught the first time we went out.

TJ with a nice shark.
Careful taking that hook out buddy!

Notice how the weather seems to be getting nasty.
Maybe we should have come in sooner???

After loosing a few while trying to bring them onto the yak, Anthony finally lands this awesome fish.

Here I am with another big redfish.
TJ, got close to take this picture.

Now for the REPORT!

AWESOME, is the only way I can describe what we did! I had a good time fishing with friends, my boy and strangers that I have never met but share the same interests as I. Guaranteed that we will be fishing with my new friends again soon. I do not have more pictures because I was afraid to take my new digital camera in the weather. I did say new camera the old camera somehow got wet but that is a totally different story. We did take pictures with a waterproof camera but still have not developed the film. Pictures to follow. We weathered the storm, winds, waves and rain to catch a total of 9 bull reds and one 3' shark. All the redfish were from 38 to 46 inches. Eight were off the yak and one on the long rod. (pictured) Bait was a bit hard to catch but as you can see we had enough to produce a nice catch. We may not have all the pictures we could have taken but allot more fish were caught. I saw TJ catch a nice shark and several bull reds off his yak. In all I must have seen at least 20-25 bull reds caught and several shark.

Team C.B.F's scores again!

I thank God for blessings he has given this family!
