Dirty Water Fishing!

Big Ugly #1 37" long
After a very long wait without fresh bait the boys finally caught a crab and some mullet on shore in ankle deep water. 10 minutes later, I had a nice run and caught this beauty or should I say Big Ugly! I thought it was a little late in the year for these things.

Bull Red #1 41" long
About 15 minutes after the B.U. I caught this amazing red. Posing with me is my friend Steve and his son Roger. What a perfect example of this species to catch on our 100th bull red caught this year.

Bull Red #2 41" long
We sat there waiting for 30 minutes then one of our rods went off and Anthony caught himself his first fish of the trip.

Bull Reds (Top) 40" long (bottom) 43" long
While Steve (on the right) was reeling in a redfish, another rod went off. I set the hook and let John (on the left) fight the fish. I almost did not give up the pole because when I grabbed the rod this fish started taking out line on a fairly tight drag. John's fish was FAT. It must have weighed at least 35 pounds. These were the first bull redfish for both of these guys.
Congratulations Steve and John.

Shark #1 37" long Atlantic Sharpnose
As Anthony and I were falling asleep the clicker of a reel woke him up. He brought our first shark of the trip onto the pier.

Did I mention we were using a Catchalot® Leader which is now available with a Mustad 14/0 Circle hook for the easy release of these fish!

Shark #2 38" long Atlantic Sharpnose
35 minutes later he reeled in another.

Shark #3 38" long Bull and Red #3 43" long
The rest of the night was slow and I was ready to call it a night but when we were about to wrap it up a rod went off. Still sleepy Anthony grabs the rod. Seconds later another rod went off so I took it for myself. Albert could have slept though a hurricane so he missed his opportunity to catch his first fish. There is nothing like waking up to the sound of screaming reels.
Now that's a nice DOUBLE!

Shark #4 37" long Atlantic Sharpnose
This nice shark bit on our line thinking it was big but it turns out to be this little critter.

Turtle, Turtle, Turtle
Thinking it was a monster red I decided to let my little big one to bring it in. Albert fought it hard for about 5 minutes then his head popped out and we realized what it was.

Shark #5 38" long Atlantic Sharpnose
After about 5 minutes I had a run thinking it was another shelled friend but it was not. I went and landed this shark.

Bull Red #4 41" long
Not long after I catch this nice redfish after a 10 minute fight.

Bull Red #5 43" long
About 30 minutes later Albert hooks up with this nice redfish.

Shark #6 40" long Bull
After catching bait all morning Anthony decides to come on top of the pier to catch this beauty. Unfortunately he got to it before I did. Man he is getting quick!
Check out Jimmy in the background. I had a hard time getting him onto a fish with Anthony hogging the rods. O.K., maybe I did a little hogging myself.

Bull Red #6 43" long
As soon I was just about to say "Let's go home boy's!" this redfish takes my bait. Mistake!

Bull Red #7 42" long
Albert caught this one while he was lying down taking a nap. The fish really did not like being caught.

Shark #7 42" long Black Tip
After a while Anthony decides to land this one. He fought it as if it was a record.

Bull Red #8 40" long
Soon after he beats me to this one because I was trying to get some rest before the drive home.

Big Ugly #2 38" long
Long after we landed the last redfish we decided to start packing it up again. Then this one bites.

Bull Red #9 41" long
At this point I was thinking we were going to start with a big ugly and end with a big ugly. Anthony has to ruin it with his favorite type of fish. That fish was enough so we decided it was time to leave.

Now for the REPORT!

The weather was sunny, hot and windy. We had a southeast wind blowing 15-20 mph all day. The water was really nasty but fishable. I have had chocolate milk clearer than the water we were fishing. We caught some crabs and mullet that lasted for two days, but the fish were hitting on whiting that we got a man on the pier. Thanks Buddy! The boys had trouble catching bait all weekend. Even on peeled shrimp. We managed only to catch 3 but that was enough. On one good sized whiting that was cut into 3 pieces which I shared with two other friends. We managed to land 3 sharks between the three of us. It was great to be out there! We landed 9 over size redfish that were 40" to 43" long, 2 Big Ugly's and 7 sharks. We also broke off on 3 other fish we never were able to see. I saw several other sharks caught off the pier by other fisherman. Early in the morning I saw a guy break off on a shark that was at least 7 feet. That shark took off to the air 2 times before it broke his line.

Team C.B.F's scores again!

I thank God for blessings he has given this family!

FISH HARD or STAY HOME with your MOMMY!
