My other fishing buddy also got into the action buy catching this shark. |
Now for the REPORT! The weather was sunny, hot and beautiful. We never had any rough seas or high winds like the weather man said we would. The water was muddy but the fish were there. We had a real hard time catching bait. We managed only to catch two whiting and one croaker on peeled shrimp. We landed 2 over size redfish that were 40" and" 39" long, 11 shark and broke off on 5 different times. It took me three different break off's before I realized we were dealing with sharks. I brought a shark that looked to be well over 5 feet to the pier but he eventually broke off in the pilings. My redfish gear did not have the backbone to muscle the shark away from the pier. My buddy Jesse also lost a shark that was about 4 1/2 feet while I was having trouble landing him. I saw several other people catch redfish, a turtle, a few black drum and several large gaftop. I bet we could of caught more redfish if we could have kept the sharks away from our baits. Maybe the sharks are scaring the redfish away. Who knows! We had 4 other runs on our redfish rigs but I bet they were gafftop. I caught one of those reds on my big shark rig. I was using sting ray for bait and he ate it. I was excited when I saw that big rig take off like that. Team C.B.F's scores again! I thank God for all my blessings and the opportunity to go fishing!
