Catching the Big Uglies
Surfside Texas

Fish #1
Shortly after we had all our rods out we hook into this 35" Ugly. Our first fish of the day.
Not bad for starters.
As you can tell from the picture it was still drizzling. At least it wasn't cold!

Xak's Big Ugly.
I had the pleasure to meet and fish with Xak.
While there we discussed how to mag some reels. Can't wait to get my magnets in.
Thank's Xak for the information.

Right before Xak leaves he hooks up onto another fish and let's Sanbarred reel it in. Unfortunately it was lost in the battle. Maybe next time Sanbarred.

Fish #2
After a race to the rods, Anthony lands this one.
Almost a keeper at 32". Back it went to get bigger.

Albert's turn.
Here he is fighting his biggest Bull Drum to date.
I do not know who was struggling more Albert or the fish.

Fish #3
Albert's 39" Ugly. Guess it went about 27#'s.
I hope this is just one of the many Big Uglies he catches in his lifetime.
Way to go Albert.

Fish #4
My turn. The rod goes off and look what was on the other end.
This 36" drum had a large circle hook in his mouth. Looked like it had been there a while. If you look carefully at this picture you can still see the hook.

O.K. - Who has the bigger mouth Me or the Fish.

Fish #5
Anthony's turn. Unfortunately for him, I was standing right next to the pole when it bent over like a twig in a hurricane.
This fish was the biggest of the day measuring in just over 40". Anthony was "TOO SLOW"!

Check out Bull Whiting Bob and friends in the background.

Now for the REPORT!

It was raining when we got there but cleared up as the day went on.
It turned into a beautiful day.
I enjoyed meeting and fishing with my new friends Xak, Sandbarred and Bull Whiting Bob. Hope to fish with you again soon.
Overall we had 5 runs and landed 5 over size Uglies. Not Bad at all.
All fish were caught on crabs.
